An elderly woman has been air lifted following a head on collision that injured two individuals in a McDonough County crash this morning.
Illinois State Police say 81-year-old Mary E. Oakman of Colchester and 55-year-old Michael Lee Thrapp of Blandinsville were both hospitalized–Oakman with “serious injuries.”
The woman’s van disobeyed a stop sign heading westbound on 1200 N. at 350 E. when she crashed into Thrapp’s pickup truck around 11:41 a.m.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident and airbags deployed in both vehicles.
As of this afternoon, Oakman remained at Blessing Hospital and Thrapp at McDonough District Hospital. Oakman was cited for failure to yield or stop at an intersection.
