Former United Way of Knox County director hired in Fulton County

The former head of the Knox County United Way is now working to lead the same non-profit in Fulton County.

Ann Tucker-Lockhart resigned in Galesburg on August 19 and began her new job as the executive director of United Way for Spoon River Country on August 22.

Tucker-Lockhart tells WGIL she took the new position further south because of the opportunity.

“My husband and I have actually been talking about coming to Canton for a short while,” Tucker-Lockhart says. “He works here at the prison and when I saw an opportunity available here it just all came together. I decided to apply and was offered the position.”

Tucker-Lockhart worked as the executive director in Knox County for ten years. She hopes to bring that experience to her new office in Canton.

“I just hope to bring, maybe a little bit more outreach into the outlying community of Fulton County,” Tucker-Lockhart says. “I’d also like to possibly talk to more business owners about doing employee campaigns.”

United Way for Spoon River Country is smaller than Knox County’s branch, but Tucker-Lockhart says she doesn’t mind and finds the community “welcoming.”
