Orpheum Theater Red Carpet Series returning in October.

Started in 2006, and continuing October 5th, the Red Carpet Series features a variety of acts and performances that Orpheum Theater patrons have come to expect.

Executive Director Kevin Maynard tells WGIL the process of planning out the series. “We start off with – this is what an ideal season looks like. We want to have a little variety. We want to hit some music, some comedy; and we try to find some dance. Obviously, things with a good theater aspect. Then we look to see who is touring, who is available, then we just go from there.”

The series kicks off October 5th with Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats, followed by AJ Croce – son of Jim Croce on October 21st.  On December 22nd and 23rd, the Orpheum will feature A Christmas Carol Live Radio Play. “It is a collection of voice actors doing many voices and doing many characters. So any sound effects are done right in front of your eyes in real time,” according to Maynard.  Next March will feature the magic of Bill Blagg as well as comedian Henry Cho.  The Orpheum’s annual Gala: The Magnificent Seventeen is set for next Saturday, August 5th at 7pm.  For more information about the Red Carpet Series, or the Annual Gala, visit their website.
