TRIAD to begin 22nd year informing Knox County seniors

Knox County TRIAD for Senior Citizens is a countywide program to provide training to our elderly population to protect themselves against bodily injury, frauds occurring in our area as well as to provide information for seniors.TRIAD stands for “The Right Information And Direction.” The goal of TRIAD is to develop, expand and implement effective crime prevention and education programs for older community members. By providing the exchange of information between law enforcement and seniors, Triad can also focus on reducing unwarranted fear of crime. TRIAD Coordinator Deputy Jacque Arthur says the free program begins January 21st. “We invite speakers to come in,” Arthur said. “We have the VNA coming….CSI coming. We have the Sheriff’s Department coming to talk about scams and frauds. (The) concealed carry guys are coming – it’s not a certified class, but they’re going to go over stuff to see if those in my class want to take the class. (There’s) defensive driving – the person coming is just going to do an overview to see if that’s something people are interested in and then they can take the class later. It’s basically topics for those 55 and older – but anybody’s invited.” For more information about TRIAD, visit the Knox County Sheriff’s website. You can also contact Deputy Arthur at 345-3733.
