The Village of Avon in Fulton County has declared an emergency state in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Village President Judy Brown declared the “existence of a local emergency” in the village on Monday.
The declaration posted to the Village’s Facebook page reads that the coronavirus “is causing or anticipated to cause widespread impacts on the health of members of the community”
The emergency state means that all meetings, for the time being, will be conducted remotely and members of the public will not be allowed to be physically present during the meeting.
Public comments will still be a part the agenda, with anyone wishing to submit public comments for the meeting may do so by emailing them to Village Clerk at avonvillageclerk@gmail.com by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Village officials say they are not aware of any cases in the area, although Fulton County had 1 confirmed case of COVID-19 and nearby Knox County has 3, as of Tuesday morning.
