McDonough County announces first death from COVID-19

McDonough County Health officials announced Friday the first death of someone confirmed to have COVID-19 in their county.

The resident was a male in his 70’s who had tested positive just earlier this week.

Outbreaks were reported at three care facilities in McDonough this week; The LaMoine, Heartland Health Care Center, and a Mosaic residential facility.

There’s no indication of whether or not today’s death was of a patient in one of these facilities.

McDonough County currently stands at 18 confirmed cases as of Friday afternoon, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
