One new death in Knox County attributed to COVID-19

A third death of a Knox County resident has been attributed to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Knox County Public Health Administrator Michele Gabriel on Friday announced the death, a female in her 80s.

“This is a sobering reminder of how dangerous this virus can be to our most vulnerable citizens,” Gabriel says. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they cope with their loss.”

Gabriel encourages Knox County residents to consider the health of their families and those around them when they are making decisions about attending a family gathering, socializing, or just going to work.

Gabriel says that the Health Department is seeing outbreaks with growing numbers that are related to individuals who go to work ill, the coworkers become ill and take it home to their families, who then become infected.

The Knox County Unified Command reminds county residents to use trusted sources for the latest information on COVID-19 and visits websites such as; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention www.cdc.gov and Illinois Department of Public Health www.dph.illinois.gov
