A new shoe store focused on runners but with footware for all is open on Main Street in Downtown Galesburg.Drew Ponder is the owner and operator 6140-Run.
Ponder’s philosophy is “every foot is different.”
Luckily he has a heat-activated device that can show pressure points, helping identify flat feet and high arches.
“You shouldn’t have to have any questions when you put the shoe on,” Ponder says. “It should be the perfect fit right away.”
It’s located at 218 E. Main in half of what used to Casey’s Party Creations.
The store is very much designed to fit Galesburg Ponder says.
There’s the name that plays off the zip code, the location in the town’s heart as well a historic feature in the shop.
“My shoe display is book ended by a couple old brackets that come from the old train station, the Santa Fe depot on Broad Street that was built way back in 1889,” Ponder says.
Ponder himself has been a runner for a little under a decade which he says helps him to know what people are looking for in a pair of running kicks.
6140-Run is in a soft opening right now with a possible grand opening slated for December.
Hours are Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
