A Galesburg man was arrested Thursday morning on charges of home invasion, criminal trespassing and three related misdemeanors.
Officers responded to a Home Boulevard apartment where two female witnesses advised officers that they had been “hanging out” downstairs at their friend’s with a group of people including 24 year-old Reginald Cooper.
The females went upstairs to one of their apartments but said shortly before 5:30 a.m. they heard a pounding at the door.
They found it was Cooper but did not open the door, who over the phone accused the two of stealing his “money and cannabis” before Cooper kicked in the door.
Cooper was said to have choked one of the females trying to get her phone away and eventually smashed it.
Both subjects fled the scene on foot.
Galesburg police located Cooper shortly after and arrested him on charges of home invasion, criminal trespassing and related misdemeanors.
Cooper appeared in Knox County Circuit Court yesterday afternoon where Judge Stephen Mathers set bond at $100,000.
Cooper said he will request a public defender.
