A 36 year old Galesburg man is in the Knox County Jail after police arrested him for allegedly having contact with a 12 year old girl.
Benjamin Manning faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 13 and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a family member.
It’s unclear what Manning’s relationship to the victim is, at this time.
Police made the arrest after responding to a domestic battery call around 7 a.m. this morning in 1200 block of East Main Street.
Upon arrival, a witness said Manning was caught trying to have sex with the girl who subsequently said the sexual advances had been going on for two months.
The Galesburg man initially told police he did not have sex with the girl, but admitted to rubbing the outside of the girl’s clothing. The report says he later admitted to sexual allegations to Knox County Jail staff.
No bond has been set, as Manning is yet to appear for his first court date.
