Galesburg High School student to run for District 205 school board

Galesburg High School senior Isaiah Harlan will run to help oversee the school he currently attends. The 17-year-old Harlan has thrown his hat in the ring as a candidate for the Galesburg District 205 School Board and is the first candidate to do so.

Elections are going to be held this April.

Current members Josh Gibb, Ellen Spittell and Bob Lindstrom’s seats are up for election. Spittell never ran for her seat but was appointed when former member Rick Welty resigned. Lindstrom has indicated he will not seek re-election and Gibb is unknown leaving at least one potential open board seat.

Harlan is fresh off managing the campaign of his father, Patrick Harlan who ran unsuccessfully for the 17th District U.S. Congressional seat. Isaiah Harlan is also the current president of the Galesburg High School student council and is president of GHS’ Right to Life club.
