The Knox County Finance Committee had some short lived good news this month.
The general fund was at a positive balance–for one day.
Treasurer Robin Davis’ office was able to make a major tax money distribution on June 30 bolstering the sagging fund.
Davis asked committee members last night to “focus on the positive,” faced with July being a month in which payroll’s distributed three times.
The Mary Davis Home is a little short on revenue, versus revenue at about six percent, but since the state passed a stop-gap budget, dollars are coming in from Springfield.
Even the cash cow landfill is two percent less on revenue than expenses but Davis explains that by taking funds out for things like contingency and $1 per ton for courthouse repairs.
Also, Davis says time clocks for county employees are going to begin testing on September 1.
